Using an iron, set the temperature according to the fabric in which you are applying the patch. Cotton and Polyester can handle a higher heat setting, while delicate fabrics require a lower heat setting. Ensure not to use iron steam settings when applying the patch.

> Ensure you apply firm pressure to help affix the patch to the fabric. If you use the counter or other area, besides an ironing board, ensure you protect the surface.

> Prep the area where the patch will be placed, by ironing over it. Place your patch on there, adhesive side down and you can apply heat tape over the patch to hold it in place. Place a teflon sheet or parchment paper over the patch to prevent scorching. You can also use a washcloth over the patch if teflon or parchment is unavailable.

> Apply firm pressure, while moving the iron in a circular motion or back and forth, throughout the patch for about 15-20 seconds.  Check if the patch is adhearing to the fabric by trying to lift a corner of the patch. If its not adhering, continue to iron over it in a circular motion, then turn your garment inside out and iron the patch in a circular motion.

**If using a hat press set temp at 320 for 12-15 seconds and medium to heavy pressure.

> Center your patch onto your hat and apply heat tape to hold it in place.  When you place your hat on the platen, check to see if there is a gap between the hat and platen by pressing on the center of the patch. If there is a gap, you can add a washcloth underneath to fill in the gap to create a smooth, flat surface and avoid buckling.  Place teflon sheet or parchment paper over patch to prevent scorching. Press the patch for about 12-15 seconds.
